Have you ever imagined
what the world would be like if more women liked who they saw in the mirror?
When a woman likes herself, her:
eyes shine
relationships flourish
personal space is protected
values match her behavior
impact is positive
When a woman likes herself, she
takes care of her body
achieves cherished goals
sets healthy boundaries
cares for her family and herself
can experience joy
When a woman likes herself, she builds up those around her
and teaches others to do the same.
It is time to stop the trend of self-hate, abuse, and comparisons that fuel unhealthy relationships with our bodies, our communities, and with those we love.
After 30 years of grappling with my own self-hate, here are the three behaviors I've learned to live by. These are what I commit to on a daily basis to protect myself from old destructive habits. To look at myself in the mirror with humility and gratitude, I attend to the trinity of health in spirit, mind, and body, through these three behaviors:
Move my body every single day with a minimum of 15 minutes of exercise.
Pursue all things with an attitude of strength to build courage and tenacity.
Be kind to myself and others in all things, in every way.
If you know a woman who needs a light to follow ... out of the isolated barren wasteland of self-hate ... into a place of connection, hope, and courage, please point them my way.
